A 4-piece pack rod designed for backpacking anglers, traveling fishers, and anyone who needs a capable freshwater rod that fits in a carry-on or day pack. Target application is trout, panfish, and light bass fishing in streams, ponds, and lakes where access requires a hike. The Trailmaster name has been in Eagle Claw's lineup for decades and is a recognized entry point for travel-format spinning rods.
IM-7 complex composite graphite blank with moderate-fast action provides a workable blend of sensitivity and casting feel for medium-power freshwater presentations. The rod breaks into 4 equal-length sections; each includes a protective case. Reel seat is engraved aluminum with screw-down hood, and handles are cork with a fighting butt. Line weight is 6–14 lb on both models, lure weight 3/16–1/2 oz, squarely in light-to-medium freshwater territory.
But honest multi-species capability in a portable format. Two sizes only: TMM56S4 at 5'6" and TMM66S4 at 6'6", both medium power. The 5'6" suits tight brushy streams and wade fishing; the 6'6" provides usable casting range on ponds and open water. Both are priced around $85, positioning the Trailmaster as an accessible but not bargain-basement pack rod.

A closer look at notable models.
Compact assembled length makes this practical for brushy stream trout fishing and backcountry brook trout pools. At 5'6" it loses some casting distance on open water but gains maneuverability under canopy.
Six-and-a-half feet gives enough casting range for pond or lake edges where distance matters. The better choice when the hike destination is open water instead of tight streams.
