About Fox

Fox began in 1964 when Cliff Fox started making metal fish rulers in a rented Essex workshop; the first product to carry the Fox name, a metal baitdropper, followed in 1967. The company grew with UK specimen fishing itself and by the 1990s had become one of the defining brands of modern carp angling, supplying rods, reels, bivvies, luggage and terminal tackle to more than 30 countries. Fox International Group, its parent, also owns the match brand Matrix and the predator brand Fox Rage, with group headquarters in Brentwood, Essex.

The rod range is a single-discipline ladder: every blank is a carp rod, rated by test curve rather than lure weight, and the tiers climb from the glass-value EOS X family through the high-modulus Horizon X3-S and the 2k-weave X4-S to the Horizon X5 Black and the Torayca Nanoalloy carbon X6 and X6 Ti flagships. Alongside the standard 10ft to 13ft two-piece builds sit telescopic and three-piece EOS X models, adjustable 8-10ft Traveller and X6 Ti compact rods for snag pits and travel, 5.5lb spod and marker blanks, and a 2.25lb floater rod for surface fishing.

What Fox is known for

Fox is one of the names UK carp fishing is organised around. The Horizon family is the recognisable rod line: X3-S as the value entry, X4-S the mid-tier workhorse, X5 Black the refined step up, and the X6 and titanium-guided X6 Ti at the top on Torayca Nanoalloy carbon. The EOS X range covers the budget end including telescopic and travel builds that most carp brands do not offer. Test curves run 2.25lb (floater) to 5.5lb (spod and marker), with 3lb to 3.75lb doing the everyday work. In this catalog its neighbours are Cadence's DL40 and the continental carp families; nothing else here fields a dedicated carp ladder this deep.
