About Loomis & Franklin
Loomis & Franklin is the rod brand born of the collaboration between Trabucco and the fly-fishing designer Sandro Soldarini. Internationally it is best known as a fly label, but the South African arm, run from Centurion, has built a local range for the fisheries that matter there, and that is the range cataloged here: rock and surf rods and coastal spinning rods, with the fly program excluded. The rock and surf side runs six families from the entry X-Tide and Shore Master through the Surge and its pink edition to the Sky Surf and the flagship Titan, a 30+36-ton Toray build with Fuji DPS seats, K-series anti-tangle guides and a mechanical casting aid, in 13 to 15 ft models rated 2-4 oz up to 6-8 oz. The spinning side carries the Agulhas and Agulhas XH shore spin rods and the HMG Archipelago STX family in 2 and 3-piece and Short Butt builds. Rods are sold with published per-model spec tables and rand pricing through the brand's own South African web shop and dealers.
What Loomis & Franklin is known for
Trabucco's fly-born label wearing a second, South African identity: one of the few international names building dedicated rock and surf rods for the SA shore scene, with the Titan as the flagship and the Surge family the volume seller. The second maker in this catalog's rock and surf discipline, alongside Assassin. Cross-shops against Assassin and Sensation on the same surf, and against its parent Trabucco in Europe.
