About Deps
Deps is a Kyoto-based Japanese tackle company founded in April 1996 by Kazumasa Okumura, building lures and rods aimed at the heavy end of bass fishing. Its reputation rests on oversized hard and soft baits, including the Slide Swimmer glide bait, the Buzzjet topwater, and a deep catalog of magnum swimbaits and jerkbaits, and the rod range is built to throw and work that class of lure. The flagship Sidewinder line is split by discipline rather than by single rod. Great Performer is the casting heart of the range, with blanks combining 30-ton and 40-ton graphite and Fuji titanium guides, tapers tuned for big baits, heavy line and braid, and pulling fish out of cover. The Bait Casting model covers general baitcasting power, Flipping Edition addresses heavy-cover pitching and flipping, the Spinning model carries the lighter and finesse spinning work, and Ultra Finesse extends into light-line tactics. What Deps is known for
Big-bass and big-bait specialization.
