About Jointer
Jointer is the fishing brand of WILD-1, the Japanese outdoor retail chain operated by Kanseki Co., Ltd. of Utsunomiya, Tochigi, and sits alongside the company's other house brands tent-Mark DESIGNS, Qualz, and WILD BASE. The brand name plays on joining: its tagline invites anglers to connect to a new world of fishing, and the catalog is built around trips where fishing joins camping, touring, and travel rather than being the sole purpose.
The rod range reflects that brief across three registers. The FREE pack rods and the Mixture Solo telescopics are travel tools, five-piece spinning and four-piece baitcasting builds from 4'11" to 9 feet that collapse small enough for a backpack. The fixed-line side covers the MOUN-TEN mountain tenkara rods, the entry TENKARA FLY pair, and the Waterside, SPROUT, and Tokyo Mahaze poles for tanago, goby, and small-water bait fishing. At the top sit two limited efforts: THE DAY, a boron-blank trout series with one-of-a-kind wood grips and titanium Torzite guides, and the Beams Equality collaboration with Sapporo baitcasting specialist Fishman, which rebuilds the Beams blancSierra 52UL and LOWER 7.3L as equal-split three-piece travel rods. The Fishman collaboration marked the brand's second anniversary in August 2020. Beyond rods, Jointer makes waders, tenkara lines, collaboration lures, and fishing apparel, sold through WILD-1 stores and its online shop.
What Jointer is known for
Jointer is known for fishing gear that piggybacks on outdoor trips: the FREE five-piece pack rods and Mixture Solo telescopics for travel lure fishing, and a deep fixed-line range running from MOUN-TEN mountain tenkara rods to Waterside pocket poles for tanago and tenagaebi. Its reputation pieces are THE DAY, a full-length boron trout series with individually unique wood grips sized for classic Cardinal and Mitchell reels, and the Jointer x Fishman Beams Equality rods. In this catalog it cross-shops against Nissin's traditional poles and Fishman's bait rods.
