About JS Company
JS Company (제이에스컴퍼니) is a Korean rod maker founded in 1984, incorporated as JSC Co. in 1991 and renamed JS Company in 2009, led by CEO Ko Jang-seok from Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do. It is one of the few Korean manufacturers that designs and rolls its own blanks, and the company's record reads like an export business: a $10 million Export Tower at Korea's 44th Trade Day in 2007, ISO 9001 certification in 2009, INNOBIZ accreditation, and a US distribution arm selling BIXOD rods to American anglers. In 2020 the company began applying graphene to new blanks.
The catalog is organized in named lines rather than one family: BIXOD is the flagship saltwater and bass line (the N-series carries the newest blanks), NIXX covers squid and ink fishing plus the POP sub-line, SSOCHI is a dedicated mandarin-perch (sogari) lure line, CHARM handles boat live-bait and raba fishing including telescopic hairtail rods, ASENSE is the trout line, and Liberty Ocean, CAN30 and Airflo round out boat, entry and surf niches. The range tracks Korea's fisheries closely: sogari and bass in freshwater, and boat fishing for hairtail, red seabream, flounder, rockfish, octopus, cuttlefish and squid in the sea.
Blank construction uses three published techniques: HEXA CROSS, which bonds an ultra-high-modulus 4-axis cloth over a two-axis helical core; HELICAL CORE, a spiral carbon-thread wrap that minimizes spine and twist; and 3D CROSS, which combines the helical core with a 3D cloth for torque and compression strength. A practical company signature is the repair-blank program: replacement tip and butt sections for most models are sold through its AS store, and those repair listings double as the published spec sheets.
What JS Company is known for
JS Company is known in Korea for the BIXOD saltwater line and for building rods around specific Korean fisheries: SSOCHI for mandarin perch, CHARM LIVE telescopic rods for night-time boat hairtail, NIXX POP INK metal-tip rods for octopus and cuttlefish tip-run work, and BIXOD N boat rods for red seabream raba, flounder downshot and yellowtail jigging. The brand rolls its own blanks with the HEXA CROSS and HELICAL CORE wraps, started applying graphene in 2020, and backs rods with a replacement-section program unusual among Asian makers. In the US it sells through a JS USA arm, where the BIXOD name has a following among inshore anglers.
