The Mach Smash is Lew's entry-tier baitcasting and spinning rod made for anglers stepping into bass fishing or seeking a serviceable all-rounder at a budget price point. It covers the standard freshwater bass toolkit, Texas rigs, jigs, spinnerbaits, and smaller swimbaits, with enough range across power classes to handle light finesse work up through heavier flipping duties. Blanks are IM6 graphite, a mid-grade carbon that delivers adequate stiffness without brittleness, appropriate for a rod likely to spend time in rod holders or beginner hands.
Guides are stainless steel with aluminum oxide inserts. The split-grip handle uses Winn Dri-Tac material instead of cork or EVA foam, providing grip in wet conditions. Reel seat is Lew's own lightweight skeletal design. All models carry fast action across the board, with a stainless hook keeper. Lineup spans eight models from 6'6" to 7'3", with a casting-heavy split (6 baitcast, 2 spinning). Power runs ML through MH. The -2 suffix on two models denotes two-piece construction.
The lone ML casting model (MS68ML) serves finesse presentations; the top-end MS73MH is the longest, heaviest-lure model suited for larger swimbaits and punch rigs. The two spinning models (MS69MLS, MS70MS) mirror the casting line at ML and MH but cover lighter line classes.

A closer look at notable models.
Shortest, lightest baitcasting model. Rated down to 1/16oz, which is marginal for baitcast delivery but usable with lighter setups. Oriented toward finesse jigs, small crankbaits, and drop-shot, categories that typically prefer spinning but workable here.
Longest and most powerful model in the series. The 1oz ceiling and 7'3" length make it the best match for swimming jigs, larger spinnerbaits, and single-hook swimbait rigs. Provides the most reach for flipping heavier cover.
