Three-piece travel spinning and casting rod series built for anglers who need full-performance rods in packable form, backpacking, air travel, and destination fishing. targets bass, walleye, pike, and light saltwater species depending on power. The Avid Trek sits at ~$260 and competes with the performance of St. Croix's two-piece Avid series. The slim-profile ferrule design is the engineering focus, minimizing the feel difference between a travel rod and a one-piece.
Blanks combine St. Croix's Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) mandrel technology with high-modulus SCIII carbon fiber for sensitivity and taper consistency across the ferrule joints. Sea Guide Hero Hi-Grade guides with slim zirconia rings and SS316 gun-smoke frames are fitted throughout. Select-grade cork handles. All three pieces pack to roughly one-third of full length. Reviews consistently note the rod fishes nearly indistinguishable from a one-piece under normal loads.
Seven models: one casting (ATC66MHF3) and six spinning (ATS66MF3 through ATS76MHF3). Lengths span 6'6" to 7'6"; powers run M to MH with one ML model. All fast action. The casting model covers heavy pitching and jig work. Spinning models cover everything from ML finesse at 6'6" to the MH 7'6" for heavier lures and saltwater-edge applications.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Only casting model in the lineup. MH power at 6'6" covers flipping jigs, punching light mats, and pitching heavier swimbaits in tighter quarters. The 3/8–3/4 oz range suits most bass presentations in moderate-heavy cover.
Shortest, most versatile spinning model. Medium power at 6'6" covers a wide range of freshwater presentations, drop shots, jerkbaits, small swimbaits, in a compact pack length suitable for carry-on travel.
Heaviest spinning model in the series. The 10–20 lb line and 1/2–1 1/4 oz lure range push into light saltwater, pike, and musky-edge territory. Practical for destination trips where one rod needs to handle larger fish.
