The Tailwalk MICRO SHORE JIGGING SSD is a shore-based jigging series based on the micro shore jigging technique. Casting small metal jigs under 30 g from shore or jetties to target a broad range of inshore species including small pelagics, rockfish, and opportunistic feeders. The technique uses quick, erratic jig movements on light PE line, making tip sensitivity and guide design critical to feeling the jig action and detecting strikes through slack line.

All three models are 2-piece spinning rods with a regular (R) action, meaning the taper loads more deeply into the blank. Appropriate for maximizing casting distance with light jigs. Guides are single-foot Fuji models (KLSG butt, KTSG and KBSG tip-side, all SiC) selected to minimize weight and optimize PE line release. The SSD designation aligns this series with Tailwalk's lightweight, sensitivity-focused platform.

The lineup runs 8'4", 8'9", and 9'6". The 84 (8'4") has the most sensitive tip section and handles 3–12 g with precision, up to 20 g on pausing actions. The 89 (8'9") is the most versatile, covering varied terrain and techniques. The 96 (9'6") is rated to 30 g and is distance-focused for open-shore casting.

Deeper Dive

A closer look at notable models.

84 Spinning · 8'4" · R action

Most sensitive tip in the series, optimized for 3–12 g jigs with precise action control. Can handle up to 20 g with pausing cadences. The shorter length suits confined rock platforms and piers where long rod sweep is impractical.

96 Spinning · 9'6" · MH · R action

Longest and heaviest-rated model, rated to 30 g. Extra length increases casting distance on open beaches and wide jetties. The regular action loads the blank fully with light jigs on long casts, maximizing launch energy.
