About Nirvana On The Fly
Nirvana On The Fly is a US tenkara and fly-fishing brand whose NIRVANA tenkara rods are sold through DRAGONtail Tenkara; its own site is a brochure and its fly rods sell through Moonlit Fly Fishing. The current tenkara line is the Kokoro family, three fixed-length rods built in a South Korean factory chosen for consistency and for techniques the brand says most factories cannot do: the Kokoro 320 (10.5 ft, 2.04 oz), Kokoro 360 (12 ft, 2.28 oz) and Kokoro 400 (13 ft, 2.58 oz).
All three share a 6:4 medium-soft action with a shorter, slightly thicker tip than usual, which loads the rod earlier and directs level or furled lines more accurately, a 10.24 in cork handle graded above the brand's other rods, and a 4X tippet rating. Published measurements give an RFI of 4.1 to 4.5 and, for the 400, a rotational moment of 6. Earlier NIRVANA rods, the 370z and 400, are discontinued; DRAGONtail's Ragnarok 400 was built as the 400's successor. Prices are $214.99 with sock and $229.99 with a hard tube, and every section is sold as a replacement part through DRAGONtail.
What Nirvana On The Fly is known for
The Kokoro 360 is the reference model, a 12 ft 6:4 medium-soft rod at 2.28 oz, joined in 2025 by the Kokoro 320 and 400. The brand is known for the Kokoro's thick-tip design and low weight, for Korean rather than Chinese manufacture, and for sharing DRAGONtail's parts and service network. In this catalog it sits alongside DRAGONtail Tenkara, whose Ragnarok 400 succeeded the earlier NIRVANA 400.
