Kohga AIR sits one step below the EX flagship and is the broadest tairaba lineup Daiwa builds, eleven models released in March 2026. Tairaba is the constant-speed fishery for madai, red seabream: a skirted rubber jig goes to the bottom, the reel turns at one pace, and the rod must fold rather than resist so the fish hooks itself on the way down the blank. The lineup is organised by concept code rather than by power letter. N models are the loading taper for drifting broadside to the wind, T is a new full-tubular technical taper aimed at light heads and vertical work in the Seto Inland Sea, D is built for electric reels in deep water, C is the 7'2" spinning casting rod, and J is a 6'9" spinning rod for metal jigs worked for the same fish. Lengths span 6'0" to 7'2" and blank weights 76 to 120 g, the lightest in the family. Jig ratings run 15 to 350 g against PE ceilings of 0.8 to 1.5; nine models take a baitcaster, two a spinning reel. AGS carbon guides run from the tip through the belly with single-foot metal-frame guides in the butt. Three models carry SMT titanium alloy solid tips, four use MegaTop carbon-solid core Thrill Game blanks, and the T and J rods are deliberately full tubular for tip feel. HVF Nanoplus, X45 and the ZERO SEAT double short trigger are common to the range.
