The middle tier of Daiwa's tairaba range, fifteen models covering every way the fishery is fished. Tairaba means winding a skirted rubber jig off the bottom at a fixed speed for red seabream, and the Japanese lineups split on how the hook is set. TYPE-N is the loading taper that lets the fish take the head and turn away against a soft tip. TYPE-K is the hooking taper, stiffer, for anglers who feel the approach and strike first. TYPE-D is cut for electric reels and deep drifts, TYPE-C is the spinning casting rod, and TYPE-TJ is the tai-jigging rod. Lengths run 5'8" to 6'11", blank weights 87 to 128 g, jig ratings 20 to 350 g and PE 0.5 to 1.5; twelve models are baitcasting, three spinning. The METAL and MT models carry a superelastic titanium alloy Metal Top; the TG models use MegaTop carbon-solid core Thrill Game blanks. Every rod is a one-and-a-half build with a tubular butt section, which is where the lifting power comes from, over HVF Nanoplus carbon with X45 bias wrap and a V-JOINT ferrule. The Air Sensor short trigger reel seat is the same part fitted to the flagship models. As with the rest of the family, the top guide is 5 mm or larger to stay clear when jellyfish are thick.
