Megathis R (メガディス R) is a Japanese-market Daiwa iso series for fukase float fishing from the rocks, listed in Daiwa's new-product release for October 2026. It has twelve five-section telescopic models: 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2 go ratings at both 5.0 m and 5.3 m, plus two 5.3 m tubular-tip models, the 3-53T and 4-53T. Standard weight runs from 221 g (1-50) to 314 g (4-53T), closed length from 110 to 118 cm, carbon content is 99% on every model, and MSRP is 75,500 to 84,500 yen before tax.
Daiwa describes the blank as a slim, low-taper design carried over and revised from its Tournament ISO rods. The base taper is regular (hon-choshi), and Daiwa sets it per rating and length: the lower-go models sit closer to a tip action and the higher-go models closer to a through action. Listed technologies are ESS, V-Joint alpha, X45, HVF Nanoplus, a Mega Top carbon-solid tip, TC-IM guides on every section and IC Guard, with a Power Hump Hold (Zero Seat) reel seat and a weighted rear grip that moves the balance point toward the hand.
Ratings are printed in go. Sinker load runs from 1-3 go on the 1-50 and 1-53 to 10-15 go on the 4-53T, and the nylon leader rating from 0.8-3 go to 4-10 go. Daiwa's model notes place the 5.0 m 1 and 1.25 go rods at tournament fishing on main line of 1.5 go and under, the 1.5-53 as the all-round model for 40-50 cm gure on 1.75 go main line and 1.5 go leader, the 1.75 and 2 go rods at large onaga (longtail gure), and the 3-53T and 4-53T at remote-island trips and night fishing for larger fish.
