BLACK SERPENT is Dranckrazy's travel program: multi-piece rods built to fly to the fish, whether that means a reservoir across Japan or barramundi water across the equator. Despite the name it is not a snakehead line; the brief is monster-fish travel, and the stated target lists run from bass and peacock bass through barramundi, saratoga, mahseer and toman.
The family has two generations, kept as sub-series here. The original TR trio (two casting, one spinning) are 3-4 piece PE 1-2 rods in the 5-25 g class, the take-anywhere versions of ordinary bass tackle. The GD generation raises the ceiling: four-piece builds rated max 80 g on PE 3-5, with named models (BONFIRE, MAYHEM, ARISE, STRYPER) splitting spinning and casting duties, topped by CODEON, a three-piece XH rated to 150 g on PE 3-6 whose target list adds giant grouper and mid-size GT. Closed lengths run 52-67 cm. Prices are ¥38,500 for the TR models and ¥43,780 for the GD generation.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 8 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Deliberately short multipurpose travel baitcaster for technically working light minnows, pencils and surface lures plus soft-bait rigs, from boat or bank.
The strongest GD spec, casting even heavier giant baits with cover-frogging pulling power; targets add snakehead and mid-size GT.
Very torquey travel baitcaster sized for working wirebaits, jerkbaits and surface lures against large targets.
Shorter power spinning length set for varied rodwork, high-speed jerking and fast-tempo surface fishing on the same monster-fish beat as BONFIRE.
The travel spinning companion for the ultralight rigs and lures a baitcaster cannot manage, built for small-to-mid expedition targets.
The all-round travel baitcaster of the original trio, power-balanced to handle worm rigs, minnows, surface lures and cranking on the road.
Set up to full-cast giant baits, big poppers and wirebaits, with the power to bully fish out of weed and cover in the frog game; targets include snakehead.
Torquey drag-focused power spinning rod for heavy worm rigs, big baits, large surface plugs and wirebaits; targets big barramundi, Papuan bass, arapaima, peacock bass, Mekong giant catfish, giant grouper and toman.
