TOYO BIG Island ISO II

BIG Island ISO II is the second generation of TOYO's heavy iso rod, carrying over the taper balance of the original while raising overall performance. The maker's notes emphasize control during the fight and a reel seat that holds the reel without wobble, which matters on a rod in this power class where fish are turned rather than played out.

All three models are 5.4 m, 6-piece blanks on 93 percent carbon, closing to 104 cm, with weights of 263 to 267 g. Power steps run 1.5, 2.0, and 3.0: the 1.5 handles PE 1 to 2 and 1 to 3 go sinkers, the 2.0 takes PE 1.5 to 4 with 1.5 to 5 go, and the 3.0 carries PE 2 to 5 with 2 to 6 go loads. That spread covers standard float work on the lighter model up to heavy iso fishing for strong reef species on the 3.0.
