Beams Equality is Jointer's collaboration with Fishman, the Sapporo baitcasting-rod specialist led by Kenichi Akatsuka. Jointer took two established Fishman Beams bait models, the blancSierra 5.2UL stream finesse rod and the LOWER 7.3L all-rounder, and had them rebuilt as equal-split three-piece blanks. The originals are unequal-split two-pieces; dividing the blank into three even sections cuts the closed length to 55.5 cm and 78 cm respectively, which is the difference between a rod case and a backpack side pocket.
The blanks stay 99 percent 4-axis carbon with titanium and stainless K-guides, and Jointer added a Japanese bamboo-motif butt design to distinguish the Equality builds from the Fishman originals. The blancSierra 52UL throws 2-7 g on PE 0.5-1 for mountain-stream bait finesse; the LOWER 7.3L covers 3-20 g on PE 1-3 for everything from bass to light shore work. The LOWER Equality marked the Jointer brand's second anniversary in August 2020.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 2 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
