THE DAY, named for the idea of the best day on the water, is Jointer's premium trout series and its statement about materials: every model uses a full-length boron blank at a time when boron has almost vanished from production rods. Boron's density is offset by the blend ratio with carbon, and the payoff is a blank that flexes deeply on small fish yet recovers with enough backbone to lift an unexpected large one.
The current family spans four builds. The TD-TB411 Boron (4'11" baitcasting, 93 g) and TD-TS410 Boron (4'10" spinning, 86 g) are stream models with titanium Torzite guides and natural wood grips cut from selected overseas timber, no two alike; the TS410 comes in charcoal zebra burl and thuya burl editions, and its seat is sized for classic Cardinal and Mitchell reel feet. The classic pair, TD-CL-40 and TD-CL-50, revisits the Japanese classic short bait rod: nylon-line-only ratings, 4 and 5 foot lengths, and styling meant to sit beside vintage round reels. Prices run ¥67,000 to ¥98,000.
