The Mukai STEP-STICK is the brand's entry-level area-trout series, named for the Start, Try, Enjoy, Play progression it is meant to support. Built by an area-trout specialist to a low price, the rods use fast-taper blanks (with a solid-tip option) that cast light spoons and cranks accurately while still covering bottom presentations, which makes them a common first rod for the discipline.

The core line spans 5.8 and 6.0 foot UL spinning models in two and three-piece builds. The higher-spec TREMO sub-line adds a designed cosmetic over the same standard-and-traditional concept and includes a baitcasting option alongside the spinning model.
