Scope Abbreviated

The Scope Abbreviated is the core of Nash's compact carp rod concept in its lightest handle format: short black shrink grips at the reel seat and butt cap in place of a full handle. The blank is 24 tonne low resin carbon with a strengthening helical weave that limits distortion under compression and sharpens recovery, which is where the format earns its casting range; the original 2012 Scope proved the retractable design past 170 yards. That retractable butt section remains the defining feature, packing a made-up 9ft rod down to around 44 inches and a 10ft to around 50 inches, small enough for a car boot, a motorbike or a walk to an overgrown pit.

Lengths run 6ft, 9ft and 10ft with test curves from 3lb to 3.75lb, the short 6ft 3.5lb covering boat work, brolly fishing and swims a full-length rod cannot enter. Guides are Seaguide TDG Minima style, from a 40mm butt ring to a 12mm anti-frap tip on the 9ft and 10ft models, and the patented Butt Lock Peg connection in the butt cap lets a rod fish off a single bankstick with no rear rest.
