Scope Abbreviated CG is the ceramic-guide version of the Abbreviated, offered at 9ft and 10ft in 3.5lb test curve. The rest of the rod is unchanged: 24 tonne low resin carbon blank with a helical strengthening weave, short shrink grips at the reel seat and butt cap, the retractable butt section that closes the 9ft to around 44 inches and the 10ft to around 50 inches, and the Butt Lock Peg butt cap connection for single-bankstick setups.
The change that matters is the ring train. The standard range runs lightweight Minima-style guides; the CG models fit ceramic-lined rings that stand up to heavy braided mainlines and abrasive snag leaders, the setups common on weedy and snaggy venues where a 3.5lb Scope is likely to be locked up over a fish. For anglers fishing braid straight through, or repeatedly punching heavy leads and solid PVA bags at range, the ceramic lining removes the wear point that stainless frames develop, so guide grooving stops being a service item on hard-fished rods.
