ARES Professional Keikyoku Tenkara

Keikyoku means light and extreme, and this is the lightweight line of the ARES tenkara range. The same three lengths as the Pro Spec, 3.15 m, 3.60 m and 4.00 m, each in a 6:4 or 7:3 taper, but every rod undercuts its Pro Spec equivalent by 5 g: 50 g at 3.15 m in the 6:4, rising to 80 g at 4.00 m in the 7:3.

The weight comes from the blank rather than the fittings. Carbon content runs 96% to 98% against the Pro Spec's 84% to 87%, which also puts the price ¥4,000 to ¥4,700 higher at ¥18,400 to ¥22,500 before tax. The tip is 0.65 mm, the closed length 57 cm, and the tippet rating 0.8 to 1.2 号 nylon harisu. Fixed-line telescopic poles with no reel seat, made in Japan.
