ARES Royal Stage Tenkara

Royal Stage sits below ZEROSUM in the ARES hierarchy and carries two tenkara generations on one page. The original Royal Stage Tenkara comes in 3.20 m, 3.60 m and 4.05 m, each in a 6:4 or 7:3 taper, on a 97% carbon blank with a 0.95 mm tip. Nissin describes the feel as a sharp release through the stroke with comfortable handling, and the range covers the standard tenkara lengths rather than reaching for the extremes.

Royal Stage Tenkara Zen is the update, added in 2026. It keeps the same three-length, two-taper layout and the same 0.95 mm tip, but shortens the shortest rod slightly to 3.15 m and sits ¥1,000 to ¥1,600 above the rod it replaces. Weights are unchanged at 60 g to 85 g depending on length and taper, and both generations close to 57 cm.

All twelve rods are fixed-line telescopic poles rated for 0.8 to 1.2 号 nylon harisu, with no reel seat, made in Japan.
