The Commando is a single-model BFS (Bait Finesse System) casting rod from Old 18, a small veteran-owned Texas rod company. It is made for anglers fishing micro lures on light braid or fluorocarbon via baitcasting gear, a technique adapted from Japanese BFS fishing that has grown in North American bass, trout, and panfish circles. Target species include speckled trout, redfish, bass, and crappie; the rod handles both freshwater and light inshore applications.

The blank is 40-ton graphite, one-piece construction, finished at 3.4 oz. Seaguide D-1 guides with soft-wire frames protect light line from grooving, a critical detail for BFS rigs running 4–6 lb line through a baitcaster. The rod is hand-assembled in the United States and carries a 3-year warranty. The blank is designed to load deeply under light lure weight, the entire blank bends to launch micro lures effectively, while retaining enough backbone to move fish.

The lineup is a single rod: the CO-70ULC-MF, a 7' one-piece casting rod rated Ultra Light power with Mod-Fast action, line 4–6 lb, lure 1/32–3/16 oz. Mod-Fast action is intentional for BFS, providing slightly more loading time than a true Fast tip to enable accurate casting of very light payloads on a baitcaster.

Mod-Fast (instead of Fast) action is the key specification for BFS technique: the softer tip loads under lures as light as 1/32 oz during the casting stroke, enabling accurate placement with a baitcasting reel tuned for near-zero spool resistance. Seaguide D-1 guides are chosen specifically to avoid grooving fine-diameter line.
