Excalibur is Restaffine's ika-metal squid series, built on the full-length boron blank for the squid-metal method. Ika-metal fishes a metal squid jig over depth, often from a boat, and demands a rod with a sensitive tip to register a squid's light take on the metal while keeping enough backbone to work the jig and lift the catch. The boron blank gives Excalibur its load behavior for that balance of feel and strength. Rods are made to order, with guide options in titanium-frame SiC or stainless. The boron blank is chosen here to register a squid's light take on the metal while keeping the backbone to work a deep jig and lift the catch, the balance ika-metal asks of a rod. Excalibur is the second of Restaffine's two squid series, covering the ika-metal method while DeepJerkee handles boat eging with egi jigs, so between them the brand covers both main boat squid styles for aori squid and squid-metal work.
