BIG TUNA

BIG TUNA (JAPAN Special) is Ripple Fisher's dedicated tuna casting series, aimed at the largest and strongest fish an angler can target with lures. The eight two-piece models scale by target size rather than a simple power label: the 85F and 87AS handle tuna to roughly 50 to 70kg alongside hiramasa on PE3 to PE8; the 83 and 86 cover fish to 80 to 100kg on PE6 to PE12; and the short, high-lift 710RT, 76, 73 and 70 are built for tuna over 200kg on PE8 to PE12, with the 70 rated to PE10-12 and lures to 220g. Lengths run 7ft to 8ft 7in, all two-piece with a grip joint and a Regular or Regular Fast action. Lure ranges climb from 18-120g on the lightest model to 80-220g on the heaviest, matched to plug and jig sizes used in tuna casting. Guide trains mix Fuji SiC-S titanium K guides, RV guides and Super Ocean guides depending on the class. Drag maxes run 10kg to 18kg at 45 degrees.
