The Squad Walleye is the value line of Savage Gear's US rod range, a two-model spinning pair built to put the brand's construction features at a $94.99 price. Blanks are 24-ton high-modulus carbon with the 1DFR tip-reinforcement treatment, which strengthens the upper third of the rod against the high-stick and car-door incidents that end most rods' lives, and the guides are tangle-free stainless frames with SiC inserts.
The pair covers the standard walleye split: a 7'0" medium light rated 6-12 lb for jigs, rigs and finesse work, and a 7'3" medium rated 8-17 lb for heavier jigs and cranks. Both are two-piece builds, which suits the boat-and-back-seat life the price point implies.
