Bassterra XT+ A Eging is the squid branch of the XT+ A range, two rods at 2.51m separated by the egi sizes they are built to work. Eging is jig-led fishing for squid, and the rod is rated in egi size rather than in grams because the jig is sold and chosen by size, not weight. The ML model takes EGI 1.8 to 3.8 and the M model EGI 2.0 to 4.0, a deliberately narrow split that puts the heavier rod on bigger jigs and deeper or windier water.

The action a squid rod needs is unusual. The retrieve is a series of sharp upward jerks that dart the jig, then a controlled fall on a semi-slack line where the take happens, so the blank has to snap the jig hard and then settle quickly enough to show a bite during the drop. Both models use High Modulus Full Carbon with Diaflash construction and Fuji Fazlite guides.

Shimano publishes no piece count for this pair, so none is recorded. Released September 2026 as part of the wider XT+ A saltwater generation.
