Bassterra XT+ A Shore Jigging is the metal-lure branch of the XT+ A range, built for casting jigs from rocks and breakwaters and working them back at speed. Three models cover it: a 2.90m medium heavy rated 20 to 80g, a 3.05m heavy rated 30 to 100g, and a 3.05m extra heavy above them.
Shore jigging asks two things of a blank that pull against each other. It has to cast a dense metal lure a long way, which wants a stiff butt and a fast recovery, and then impart a jerked retrieve for a long session without wearing out the angler, which wants the work to happen in the tip rather than the whole rod. The three-model ladder here is a jig-weight ladder rather than a length one, with two of the three sharing 3.05m and differing only in power.
Shimano's own table leaves the extra heavy model's length and casting weight blank, so its length is decoded from the model code and no weight is recorded for it. The other two carry published gram ratings. Blanks are High Modulus Full Carbon with Diaflash construction and Fuji Fazlite guides. Released September 2026.
