Tribal TX-5B Carp

Tribal TX-5B is a new generation of the TX-5 carp rod rather than a running change, and Shimano positions it on the thinnest TX-5 blank it has built, with faster recovery and more sensitivity while holding the strength the range is bought for. A thinner blank of the same test curve recovers quicker after the cast, which is what converts into distance on a carp rod.

Six models cover 10ft, 12ft and 13ft, all two-piece with EVA grips. Test curves run 3.00lb, 3.25lb and a 3.50lb+ Intensity build, the last of which Shimano states with the plus sign rather than a fixed figure. The 10ft pair suits stalking and tighter waters where a 12ft rod cannot be worked; the 12ft models are the general-purpose middle of the range; the 13ft Intensity is the distance and heavy-water option.

Test curve rather than casting weight is the rating that matters on a carp rod, and it is recorded here as the primary spec. The range was released in September 2026.
