Hero-X

The Hero-X is Sonik's entry-level carp range, pitched leaner, lighter, and faster than its predecessors at the price point. Street prices sit around £40 to £45 a rod. The lineup covers 10ft models at 3lb and 3.5lb, 12ft models at 3lb, 3.25lb, and 3.5lb, a 13ft 3.5lb for work past 100 metres, and a 12ft 5lb Spod and Marker rod so a full three-rod-plus-baiting setup stays inside a budget.

The blank is a slim black carbon lay-up with a progressive casting action and fast tip recovery, which cushions runs and helps against hook pulls on short lines. Components are the same family used further up the catalogue: super-light M-Series DL black guides with an anti-frap ceramic tip ring, a 40mm butt-guide pattern on the 10ft rods and 50mm on the 12ft and 13ft, a 17mm black DPS reel seat sized for big-pit reels, a Japanese shrink-wrap butt grip with handle flare, and Sonik's contoured line clip.

The range is a first-ladder carp rod done without obvious corner-cutting: the 3lb 10ft suits small lakes and margin work, the 12ft 3.25lb is the all-rounder, and the 13ft and spod builds cover bigger pits.
