Escape-50 is the brand's casual travel model, planned around three requirements: that it protrude as little as possible from a rucksack or one-shoulder bag, that it stow easily in luggage, and that portability not cost it real fishing performance.
Whiplash frames it as a rod for short domestic trips, for the moment on an overseas trip when the urge to fish for something small arrives, and for travel by motorbike, bicycle or train. Its shortness is treated as an asset for accuracy as well as quick handling. The taper is a moderate medium-fast, and the sections join with a spigot joint chosen so the rod bends without concentrating load at the ferrule.
