The Ikari DBL is Zenaq's heavy-class offshore jigging series, built for large pelagics including amberjack, tuna, and marlin. It fuses two proprietary structures: the Ikari Blank carbon-core, which stores energy as it bends deep and converts it to rebound force, and the DBL Power Booster, which adds lifting power for monster-class fish while spreading angler load across a long fight. The blank is described as supple rather than rigid, bending deeply to reduce strain while retaining the backbone to turn heavy fish. The lineup spans a 20 kg class up through 100 kg-plus targets, with jig ratings from a 350g ceiling on the lightest model to 500g on the heaviest, and PE ratings climbing from 2-4 to 8-12. FB models run conventional reels, FS models run spinning, so anglers can match platform to discipline at each power level. The heavier models add hexagonal grips and metal gimbal grip ends for harness-assisted power fishing. Construction prioritizes direct jig manipulation and smooth power transfer with minimal feedback loss, aimed at deep-water vertical jigging where lifting authority and stamina decide the outcome.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 5 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
A short, powerful 5'3" conventional rod rated 180-500g on PE 8-12 for the 100 kg-plus class. The compact blank maximizes lifting leverage against the heaviest fish, with gimbal-equipped grip for sustained harness pressure.
Spinning counterpart at 5'3" with the same 180-500g and PE 8-12 heavy ratings for the 100 kg-plus class. The top of the spinning line, built to turn monster-class fish in deep water with the DBL booster carrying the load.
A 5'6" conventional rod taking 150-400g jigs on PE 4-8 for the 50-70 kg class. Shorter length and added lifting power suit deep-water work on hard-pulling amberjack and tuna; ships with hexagonal grip and metal gimbal end for harness fishing.
Spinning version of the J10 at 5'6", same 150-400g and PE 4-8 ratings for the 50-70 kg class. Chosen where a spinning platform is preferred for the retrieve and drag handling on big pelagics.
The lightest DBL at 6'0", a spinning rod rated to 350g on PE 2-4 and pitched at the 20 kg class. Short and Long grip configs let the angler set leverage for medium-deep vertical jigging on the lower power tier.
