Spirado BlackArt is Zenaq's freshwater black bass line within an otherwise saltwater catalog, built around a unified black aesthetic and blanks tuned for sensitivity and precise lure control. The range spans nine baitcasting models (B-prefix) and six spinning models (S-prefix), and most model names state the rod's job directly: Finesse, Frog, Bottom Sensor, Cover PE, Swimmin' Shake, Wide Shooter, Skippin' Frog and Dragger. Baitcasters run from a 6'5" finesse plugging stick (1/16-3/8 oz, 5-12 lb) up to a 7'9" punching rod (1/2-3 oz, PE max 80). Spinning models cover ultralight finesse from 1/64 oz micro rigs through power-finesse work on PE line. Several rods carry a PE-line ceiling noted as PE max N: B67 Frog (70), B4.5-72 Biwa Spec (70), B79 Cover PE (80), S66 Skippin' Frog (30) and S2-68 Dragger (25). Heavier baitcasters use offset handles, and the PE-oriented models add spiral or assist guide settings to reduce line tangles when the rod is held vertical. The line is organized by technique and lure weight rather than by a single all-water taper, so model choice follows the presentation: finesse rigs, frogging, bottom contact, swimbaits, punching or skipping into cover.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 15 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
A 6'2" light-rig reaction rod for drop-shots, nails and tiny plugs (1/32-1/4 oz, 2-8 lb), pairing a soft rig touch with a strong lower section for short-stroke hooksets.
A 6'3" extreme-finesse spinning rod for micro rubber and nails (1/64-1/8 oz, 2-5 lb), with a super-soft tubular top that absorbs takes while still setting hooks. Aimed at pressured water and winter micro-bites.
A 6'5" baitcasting finesse rod for 1/16-3/8 oz rigs and light plugs, with a flexible blank that casts light rigs to tight targets and a soft belly that cushions the fight; rated 5-12 lb.
A 6'5" spinning rod for surface and mid-layer swimming (1/64-3/16 oz, 2-8 lb), with a soft tip that lets the angler feed and manage line slack to keep a natural lure motion.
A 6'6" versatile searcher named for being the first rod used to read a new spot, covering 1/4-3/4 oz shads, minnows, cranks, spinners, jigs and light worming; rated 8-16 lb.
A 6'6" power-finesse spinning rod presuming PE line (1/16-3/8 oz, 3-12 lb, PE max 30) for skipping rig frogs into unreachable cover, with an assist guide to reduce PE tangles.
A 6'7" light frog rod (1/4-1 oz, 10-25 lb, PE max 70) whose tip initiates the action, belly controls frog movement, and butt drives thick hooks through heavy cover. The compact length minimizes water disturbance during downward rod work.
A 6'8" worming rod named for its bottom-feel emphasis, built for Texas rigs, light jigs and Carolina rigs (1/4-1 oz, 10-20 lb). A high-elasticity tip resists bite deflection and reads bottom structure.
A 6'8" big-bass power-finesse rod named for dragging fish off demanding structure (1/8-1/2 oz, 4-12 lb, PE max 25), built for vertical rock faces where baitcasting tackle cannot work precisely.
A 6'9" heavy-finesse jig rod (3/8-1 1/2 oz, 12-25 lb) with a deliberately stiff tip that holds precise control of 1/2 oz-plus jigs in tight cover, favoring accurate pitch-casting in rock areas.
A 7' baitcaster for fast-moving and heavier lures (1/4-1 oz, 10-18 lb) such as vibrations, deep cranks, spinners, jigs and Texas rigs. A light blank and minimal grip keep the long rod workable for big lakes.
A 7' light-rig rod named for extended casting reach (1/32-5/16 oz, 2-8 lb), using its length to widen the vertical stroke range over steep terrain and high cover.
A 7'2" heavyweight all-rounder tuned for Lake Biwa, handling cranks, spinners, jigs, swimbaits and Alabama rigs (3/8-2 oz, 12-25 lb, PE max 70), balancing fine action against the power for trophy bass; offset handle.
A 7'4" heavy-lure rod for open-water patterns (1/2-3 oz, 14-30 lb) covering spinners, jigs and heavy Texas and Carolina rigs. A stiff blank cuts weeds and casts heavy sinkers a long way; offset handle.
A 7'9" punching rod built exclusively for PE line and heavy cover (1/2-3 oz, 14-35 lb, PE max 80), running heavy Texas rigs and rubber jigs, with a spiral guide setting to limit PE tangles when held vertical.
