The BOMBA DA AGUA Pack Rod series is a 5-model lineup of 4-piece baitcasting rods, each packing to 45cm. All five use the same blank material: 10t and 15t ultra-low elasticity carbon, which BOMBA DA AGUA describes as bending with the suppleness of fiberglass while snapping back with the sharpness of high-modulus carbon. The parabolic (Action-R) taper loads through the full blank under cast load and recovers quickly at the tip, a behavior the brand attributes to the low-modulus carbon's damping characteristics. Guides are all-titanium SiC-S rings throughout; hard EVA grips; original balancer system. Made in Japan.
The five models step down in cast weight from the Lutador 55 at the heavy end to the Bruxa 51 at the lightest. Lutador 55 (5.5ft, 180g) is rated XXH class with a 20-350g lure range on PE max 10; it is built for sustained jerking of heavy surface lures and penetrating thick-gauge hooks through monster fish. Passista 54 (5.4ft, 174g) covers 15-150g on PE max 8. Magico 53 (5.3ft, 155g) covers 10-80g on PE max 6. Ladrao 52 (5.2ft, 147g) covers 5-40g on PE max 4. Bruxa 51 (5.1ft, 142g) covers 2-15g on PE max 2, with an extremely soft tip against a strong butt section, intended for micro-lure fishing on large fish.
The brand's Yajirobe Theory (ヤジロベエ理論) is applied across the series: the original balancer shifts the rod's balance point toward the angler's grip, reducing perceived tip weight during repetitive casting and lure action. Model names are Portuguese words: Lutador (fighter), Passista (samba dancer), Magico (magic), Ladrao (thief), and Bruxa (witch). Prices are listed ex-tax in Japan; all five include a rod belt as of March 2025 (previously included a rod sock). BOMBA DA AGUA is an independent company based in Osaka, targeting anglers pursuing exotic and monster species worldwide.
