The Berkley Lightning Rod is a long-running freshwater value series based on a multi-modulus graphite blank. Berkley uses 24-ton multi-modulus graphite in a carbon composite construction, layering different modulus materials in the blank to balance sensitivity, strength, and recovery at a sub-premium price point.
Components include stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts, double-locking graphite reel seats, and rubberized cork-wrapped grips. The series covers both casting and spinning configurations across common bass and panfish sizes, with ultralight 5-foot through 8-foot spinning sticks and 6'6" through 7'6" casting rods.
Model codes follow BCLR for casting and BSLR for spinning, with length, piece count, and power encoded in the suffix. The lineup is generalist instead of technique-segmented, with each SKU covering a range of presentations within its power class instead of being tuned to a single specific technique.
