Providence
The FER-58 flagship: an F-tuned solid tip on a 50t carbon butt for 0.3 to 0.5 g jigheads
Providence holds one rod, the FER-58, which 34 places at the top of its range. FER stands for Final Evolution Rod. Development began with Katsumi Yabe asking what a hybrid of the FPR-55 F-tuned and the DFR-511 would do. The FER-58 takes the F-tuned solid tip from the FPR-55 and the DFR-511 butt blank, raised from 40t to 50t carbon for swing, sensitivity and power.
It is a 5'8" two-piece rated 0.1 to 1.8 g on 0.8 to 2 lb line, weighing 73 g, and comes with a tip protector. 34 describes it as built around 0.3 and 0.5 g jigheads while still handling jigheads in the upper 1 g range, with a grip shaped to fill the hand and wood used in its construction. The brand explains the series name as an all-seeing view of what is happening in the water. Japanese retail is ¥64,130 including tax.
