Specialize
Situation-specific ajing rods from 2024, including the 5-piece SFR-58 and SFR-58b
Specialize is the series 34 started in 2024 for rods tuned to one method or situation; the SFR-51, SFR-65 and SFR-58 are built on Toray Torayca T1100G carbon. The SFR-51, the first, was developed with Chiba instructor Yonemoto for jigheads under 1 g: a 5'1" two-piece rated 0.3 to 4 g on line to 2.3 lb. The SFR-65, the second, is a 6'5" rod for the mazume bite at dawn and dusk, built to work 3 g jigheads crisply and rated 0.3 to 5 g. Both come with a QR code for buyer-only instruction videos filmed in different regions.
The SFR-58, released in April 2025, is a 5-piece mobile rod that packs to 39 cm. 34 states that matching resonant frequency across the sections keeps its sensitivity level with the brand's 2-piece ajing rods. It has a sliding reel seat for balancing different reels and more overall power, for meki (small trevally) and rockfish such as kasago and kijihata as well as aji. The SFR-58b, released in September 2025, is the bait finesse version of the same 39 cm 5-piece format, aimed at aji through mid-size targets such as kamasu, chinu and kijihata. Both 5-piece models are rated 0.3 to 5 g with a maximum of PE 0.25.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 4 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
