The Douglas Outdoors LRS (Lake, River, Sea) spinning series is a technique-diversified lineup covering inshore saltwater, steelhead, centerpin float fishing, and general spinning applications. It is sold as a value-tier rod with upgraded components, CC Fuji Fazlite saltwater-safe guides and cork/EVA grips, at prices well below comparable specialized rods. The series fits anglers who want workable specialty tools without premium tier pricing. Blanks are hybrid multi-modulus graphite with Douglas dura-resin for durability and sensitivity.
Guides are CC Fuji Fazlite with matte finish and long-wear inserts compatible with braid. Reel seats are carbon fiber insert with anodized up-lock ring. Handle combinations vary by intended technique; steelhead and centerpin models use longer fore-grips for two-hand maneuvering. Actions span moderate through fast; the centerpin and float models are moderate action for controlled drift. Twelve models split across three technique families. The LRS SC785F and LRS S71052F/S7104F-D are inshore saltwater models at 7'8"-7'10".
The general spinning models (LRS S8642F through S9852F) span 8'6"-9'8" and address swimbait, salmon, and steelhead plug fishing. The LRS S10632M and LRS S9632M are lighter-power float/nymphing rods. The centerpin models (LRS P11632M and LRS P13644M) are 11'6" and 13'6", dedicated to float-and-drift presentations for steelhead and coho salmon.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
MH inshore model. Heavier power handles larger redfish, snook, or striped bass with heavy jigs and swimbaits; the 7'8" length gives casting reach on open flats.
Inshore saltwater model. The "-D" designation indicates a down-lock reel seat common on inshore rods. Fast action and saltwater-safe guides address redfish and flounder applications.
Moderate-fast 9' model with lighter lure range than the fast 9' companion. Better suited to drift presentations and swinging flies or small plugs for steelhead; the MF action provides feed-time before hookset.
Shorter centerpin/float model. Suited to smaller steelhead rivers and tighter runs where the 13'6" is unwieldy; ML power protects light leaders on wild fish.
Primary centerpin model. 13'6" length enables extended line mends and drift control on larger steelhead rivers; M power handles coho salmon and large wild steelhead. Manufacturer confirms it for centerpin float rigs.
