The Diesel is Powell's crankbait and finesse specialty bass series, based on a mix of glass and graphite blanks tuned for lure presentation instead of hookset speed. The series serves freshwater bass anglers who throw crankbaits, squarebills, lipless cranks, and finesse spinning rigs. Frogging, or topwater series. Blank construction uses Powell's 36-ton Maxumfiber graphite with a "Mini Matrix" cross-brace layer for the graphite models.
The glass models (6104 and 705/755 CB Glass) use fiberglass blanks specifically for their softer tip-flex that loads and releases crankbaits without pulling them away from fish. Hardware includes Pac Bay Minima reel seats, Fuji Concept guides, and EVA split grips without a foregrip, a common cranking rod configuration for reduced weight and improved balance. The series spans graphite extra-fast models for finesse spinning and glass moderate-fast models for crankbait casting.
The lineup is 6 casting and 2 spinning. Lengths run 6'10" to 7'6". Glass (CB Glass) models are at 6'10", 7'0", and 7'5" in MH power for casting crankbaits. Graphite XF models in ML/M/MH power cover spinning finesse and casting jig/worm use. The 7'6" Mag MH XF model sits at the heavy-fast end for long-distance presentations with larger lures.

Shortest glass model. M power at 6'10" suits medium-depth squarebills and mid-running crankbaits. The glass blank provides tip compliance for lures with treble hooks, a deliberate trade of sensitivity for bite retention on running strikes.
Primary finesse spinning model. Extra-fast action at ML power works for drop shots, Ned rigs, and light jigs. The graphite blank is used here instead of glass, finesse fishing benefits from sensitivity, unlike crankbait work where glass is preferred.
Mag designation indicates an extended-length graphite model with XF action and the widest lure weight range in the series (1/4-2 oz). This departs from the glass/cranking profile, more suited for big swim baits, large spinnerbaits, or reaction lures needing a fast hookset.
