The Naked series is Powell's minimalist-aesthetic, performance-oriented freshwater casting and spinning lineup built on their MAXUMFIBER G40 graphite blanks finished in matte black. The target angler is a bass fisherman who wants a functional, technique-specific tool without branding or cosmetic treatments, hence the 'Naked' name. The series covers a range from finesse spinning to flipping and includes one composite glass-blend model for crankbait fishing, making it a small but technique-spanning lineup instead of a power-specific series.
G40 carbon blanks are designed for lightweight responsiveness with fast action characteristics; the XF actions dominate the spinning side. Fuji reel seats and Fuji Alconite guides are standard fitments. The 724 CB model breaks from the carbon pattern, it uses a glass/composite blank (identified by the 'CB Glass/Composite' suffix) for the loading characteristics appropriate to crankbait fishing, where a parabolic bend prevents pulling trebles. That's the only model with a non-carbon blank in the set.
Five models: three spinning and two casting. Spinning models (701 LEF, 713 MEF, 732 MLEF) cover drop-shot, finesse, and general presentations at 7'–7'3". The casting models split between the glass crankbait rod (724 CB) and a MH workhorse (723 MH CEF). All use EF or XF action codes. No moderate-action or slower-action casting models in this five-rod set.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Light XF spinning build for drop shot, Neko, and finesse presentations on 6–12 lb line. XF taper on a light blank provides fast hook sets with minimal stretch on fluorocarbon.
General-purpose MH baitcaster for pitching jigs, Texas rigs, and heavier reaction baits up to 3/4 oz. The XF action aids hook penetration on heavier setups.
The only glass-composite model in the lineup; MF action and glass blend provide the parabolic load needed to keep treble hooks pinned on crankbaits. Stands apart from the fast-action graphite models that dominate the series.
