Aernos GS is the value build in Shimano's galatama range, a single 6'0" two-piece with a fast action blank rated 4 to 14 g and 6 to 12 lb nylon. The specification is honest about where the money went. Guides are Fuji O-ring rather than SiC, which trades some hardness for cost while keeping the frame geometry that stops line slapping the blank, and the reel seat is also Fuji. The handle is cork rather than EVA, unusual at this end of a range and a better surface for detecting a bite through the palm when the rod is held rather than rested. A rod retainer is included in the package, matching the way pond sessions are actually fished, with rods set down between fish. It sits between Scimitar GS and Bassterra GS: more hardware than the entry rod, less blank technology than the tiers above.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 1 model, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
