Bassterra EV GS is the full-Fuji build in the Bassterra galatama line, offered in 5'6" and 6'0" two-piece, both fast action and both rated 4 to 18 g with 8 to 16 lb nylon. The detail Shimano leads with is at the wrong end of the rod for most catalogues: an EVA knob at the base of the handle, added so the rod sits stably in a holder. That is a galatama-specific requirement rather than a comfort feature, because pond competition is fished with the rod parked and watched, often several at once, and a butt that rolls in the rest costs bites. Fast action through the tip suits the short lift-and-set that a pond peg allows, with no room for a sweeping strike. The 5'6" weighs 139 g and closes to 87 cm; the 6'0" weighs 146 g and closes to 95 cm.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 2 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
