COMPRE SALMON/STEELHEAD BC MOOCHING

The Compre Salmon/Steelhead BC Mooching is designed for baitcasting reel setups used in British Columbia-style mooching - a slow, vertical or near-vertical presentation common on tidal rivers and inlets targeting chinook and coho. Both models are 10'6" two-piece rods with Moderate action, AAA cork and EVA combination grips, and a 12-inch foregrip that facilitates the one-handed hold used in mooching technique. The Fuji reel seat and SeaGuide Zirconia guides are shared with the rest of the Compre Salmon/Steelhead family.

The two models differ only in power and the resulting line and lure rating. The Medium model (CPCM106M2) is rated for 12–20 lb mono and 1–4 oz, covering standard herring and bait setups at moderate depths. The Medium Heavy model (CPCM106MH2) steps up to 15–25 lb mono and 4–8 oz, accommodating heavier sinker requirements in deeper water or stronger tidal current.

At $99.99 each, both rods are positioned as accessible entry points into BC mooching without the cost of a dedicated high-end mooching rod. The Moderate action across both models is consistent with mooching technique, where rod tip movement telegraphs bait action rather than stiff blanks that would inhibit the required slow, natural presentation.
