The Compre Salmon/Steelhead Spinning series spans four two-piece spinning rods from 8'6" to 9'6", covering steelhead and salmon applications across a range of power ratings. The two 8'6" models carry medium and medium-heavy power with lure weight ratings starting at 3/8 oz, matching river techniques such as drift fishing, float presentations, and casting spinners or small plugs. The 9'0" heavy model and the 9'6" medium model round out the series with different length and power combinations for varied water conditions.

All four models use a Fuji reel seat, AAA cork handles, and sloped-frame SeaGuide guides with Zirconia inserts. The guide construction keeps line wear low across repeated casts and fish-fighting loads. MSRP is $99.99 for all models in the series.

The spinning-specific reel seat placement and guide spacing distinguish these rods from the casting counterparts in the Compre Salmon/Steelhead lineup, making them appropriate for anglers who prefer open-face reels for line control during drift and float presentations.

A closer look at notable models.

CPSS86M2 Spinning · 8'6" · M

8'6" two-piece, medium power. Rated 8-12 lb mono and 3/8-3/4 oz lure weight. The lightest model in the spinning lineup. Suited to steelhead river fishing with drift rigs, light jigs, and floats in smaller to mid-sized water where finesse presentations and line feel are priorities.

CPSS86MH2 Spinning · 8'6" · MH

8'6" two-piece, medium-heavy power. Rated 8-17 lb mono and 3/8-1 oz. Provides additional backbone over the M model for heavier drift weights, larger spinning presentations, or conditions requiring more authority on the hook set. Still manageable for extended drift fishing sessions.

CPSS90H2 Spinning · 9'0"

9'0" two-piece, heavy power. Rated 10-30 lb mono with no lure weight specified, indicating bait-oriented salmon use rather than hardware. The added length improves line management and casting reach on larger rivers, and heavy power handles the demands of fighting chinook or other large salmon species.

CPSS96M2 Spinning · 9'6" · M

9'6" two-piece, medium power. Rated 8-12 lb mono and 3/8-3/4 oz lure weight. The longest rod in the spinning series and the only 9'6" option. Medium power at this length suits steelhead float fishing on larger rivers where extended drifts require additional reach and mending capability.
