The Compre Walleye Spinning E is the spinning-rod component of Shimano's current-generation Compre Walleye series, built on DIAFLASH-reinforced blanks. DIAFLASH adds opposing carbon wraps at the lower blank to limit torsional flex under fighting pressure, a construction detail aimed at reducing energy loss when battling walleye out of deeper water. Fuji guides are used across the lineup for guide ring durability and line management; a Fuji reel seat seats spinning reels securely. Handles are AAA cork with an 1.8-inch foregrip across all 12 models.
The lineup divides into two action families. Three models carry a standard fast action with medium power and lure weights from 1/4-1/2 oz, covering general walleye spinning techniques including live bait rigs and lighter jigs. The remaining nine models are extra-fast action, spanning medium-light to medium-heavy power ratings, with lure weights from 1/16-1/4 oz on the lightest end to 3/8-1 oz on the medium-heavy models.
Lengths range from 6'3" to 7'6", giving anglers options across casting distance, lure control, and line handling requirements. Two-piece versions are offered in several configurations for transport convenience. Line ratings run 4-10 lb on the lightest models and up to 8-17 lb on the medium-heavy extra-fast variants, covering finesse jig presentations through heavier snap-jigging and trolling applications.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
6'3", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium power. Lure weight 1/8-1/2 oz and 6-12 lb line. A compact jig rod for boat fishing in tight quarters, drop-shotting, or working blade baits and small swimbaits where a short, highly sensitive tip is an advantage.
6'3", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-light power. Rated 1/16-1/4 oz and 4-10 lb line. The lightest-rated model in the 6'3" group, configured for finesse presentations with tiny jigs, drop-shot rigs, and micro-swimbaits in clear water or pressured conditions.
6'3", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-heavy power. Same 3/8-1 oz and 8-17 lb ratings as the two-piece MH variant, built as a one-piece blank for those who prioritize uninterrupted blank action in a compact heavy-power jig rod.
6'3", two-piece, extra-fast action, medium-heavy power. Rated 3/8-1 oz and 8-17 lb line. The heaviest power in the 6'3" length, this model handles heavier jigs, larger swimbaits, or snap-jigging applications where backbone is needed to drive hooks through larger walleye. Two-piece for travel.
6'8", single-piece, fast action, medium power. Lure weight 1/4-1/2 oz and 6-12 lb line. A general-purpose walleye spinning length suited to live bait rigs, lighter jigs, and small crankbaits from boat or shore where a mid-length fast-action rod is preferred.
6'8", two-piece, extra-fast action, medium-heavy power. Rated 3/8-1 oz and 8-17 lb line. Adds reach over the 6'3" MH models for longer casts or when working heavier presentations from the bank. Two-piece construction suits travel and rod locker storage.
6'8", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-light power. Rated 1/8-3/8 oz and 4-10 lb line. A mid-length finesse spinning rod for jigging techniques requiring light lure weight sensitivity at a length comfortable for casting from boat or wade-fishing positions.
6'10", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-light-plus power. Rated 1/8-3/8 oz and 4-10 lb line. The ML+ designation bridges medium-light and medium power for finesse jig presentations where slightly more backbone than a straight ML is needed without sacrificing tip sensitivity.
7'1", two-piece, fast action, medium power. Same 1/4-1/2 oz lure weight and 6-12 lb line as the 6'8" fast model, with added reach for longer casts. Two-piece construction suits travel and storage without compromising the fast-action profile.
7'1", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-light power. Rated 1/8-3/8 oz and 4-10 lb line. The extended 7'1" length improves casting distance with light jigs and increases line pick-up speed when working subtle retrieves over structure. Suited to open-water finesse jigging.
7'1", single-piece, fast action, medium power. Matches the two-piece 71M2E in length, power, and ratings but as a one-piece blank, providing uninterrupted blank continuity from butt to tip for anglers who prefer one-piece construction.
7'6", single-piece, extra-fast action, medium-light power. Rated 1/8-3/8 oz and 4-10 lb line. The longest model in the series, providing maximum reach for long-range casting with finesse jigs or for managing line bow in current when working slip-sinker or live bait rigs.
