GRAPPLER TYPE LJ CAST

The Grappler Type LJ Cast is the baitcasting counterpart to the LJ Spin, sharing the same light jigging design objectives: a softer tip for working lighter jigs, Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank construction for rigidity without weight penalty, and a CI4+ reel seat for improved sensitivity and reel fixation. The casting-specific ergonomics include a flat-bottom grip design that seats more securely in the palm during the repetitive motion of vertical jigging, reducing hand fatigue over extended sessions.

Both models in the LJ Cast lineup are 6'3" single-piece blanks rated for 20 lb PowerPro, with 1" foregrips and 8" rear grips at $329.99 each. The LJ series addresses situations where a standard Type J rod carries more power and stiffness than the jig weight or target species requires, providing a lighter, more responsive blank that still draws on Shimano's offshore construction technologies. The casting configuration is suited to anglers who prefer a conventional reel for light jigging or who use the LJ platform alongside trolling or casting applications on the same trip.

Spiral X construction uses three carbon tape layers wound in opposing diagonal directions to resist compression and torsion. Hi-Power X adds a final outer wrap of X-shaped carbon tape, allowing Shimano to tune the taper's action and strength at specific sections of the blank during manufacture.
