Lesath GS

Lesath GS is the top of Shimano's Southeast Asian galatama range, built for stocked-pond competition where the fish have seen every rig in the pond. Shimano's own brief for it names the targets directly: patin, bighead carp and rohu, species it describes as notoriously finicky. That drives the two demands the blank has to satisfy at once. The tip is taken thin enough to register bites that never move a float, at 1.8 mm at the top, while the butt keeps enough reserve to turn a heavy fish before it reaches structure. Construction is Spiral X Core, Shimano's carbon-tape blank built with Toray Nanoalloy resin, which the company rates at up to 10 percent more torsional and 15 percent more compressional rigidity than Spiral X. Hi-Power X wraps the outer layer against twist under load. Carbon content is 99.2 percent, the highest in the GS family, and the single 6'0" two-piece weighs 142 g.
