The Nexave Spinning series is an entry-level multi-species lineup built around versatile actions and lightweight split-grip EVA handles. All five models are two-piece rods that use titanium oxide guides for compatibility with both monofilament and braided line. The split-grip design reduces weight along the blank, and an uplocking reel seat nut improves grip comfort during extended fishing sessions.
The series covers a wide power range: ultra-light through medium-heavy, in lengths from 5'6" to 7'6". This spread allows the lineup to address species from panfish at the lighter end to bass, pike, and inshore game fish at the heavier end. All models carry a flat $49.99 price, making this a uniform-cost option across the full range of configurations.
Guide rings are titanium oxide rather than the aluminum oxide found on higher-priced Shimano spinning series, but the material handles braided lines without grooving. The EVA split-grip replaces the full cork found on the Convergence series, a construction choice that trims weight at the handle end of the blank.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
5'6" ultra-light two-piece. Rated 2-6 lb and 1/16-3/16 oz. The shortest and lightest model in the Nexave spinning lineup, suited to panfish, small trout, and finesse presentations where a compact, sensitive blank with minimal lure resistance is needed. Short rear grip at 5 inches.
6'6" medium two-piece. Rated 8-12 lb and 1/4-1/2 oz. Covers a broad mid-range of freshwater applications - bass, walleye, and general multi-species work. The 6'6" length is a common all-around freshwater choice, balancing casting distance with maneuverability in tight spaces.
7'0" medium two-piece. Same 8-12 lb and 1/4-1/2 oz ratings as the NEXS66M2 with 6 additional inches of blank length. The extra reach improves casting distance for open-water applications and provides more leverage during hooksets on longer casts.
7'0" medium-light two-piece. Rated 6-10 lb and 3/16-3/8 oz. The 7-foot ML configuration works well for finesse techniques requiring casting distance - drop shots, light Texas rigs, and slip floats - where a longer blank aids both reach and line sensitivity.
7'6" medium-heavy two-piece. The stoutest model in the Nexave spinning lineup at 10-15 lb and 3/8-3/4 oz. The 7'6" length suits heavier swim jigs, large swimbaits, and inshore species that demand a powerful blank with extended casting range.
