The Ocea Plugger Full Throttle Spinning series (listed on Shimano's site as Full Throttle A) is a redesigned line of two-piece spinning rods for popping and plugging at large pelagics. Construction uses Spiral X Core, combining Shimano's Spiral X carbon tape layering with Toray Nanoalloy technology for gains in both torsional and compressional rigidity over the previous generation. Hi-Power X wrapping on the outer blank layer controls twist under load and improves recovery after each cast or fish run.
A Screw Lock Joint threads the two sections together for a secure connection that resists rotation during a fight. Shimano's X-Guide stripper guides mount the guide frame higher off the blank and position the ring further from the rod's surface, reducing line contact during the cast and improving flow through the guide train. A CI4+ reel seat reduces weight while maintaining rigidity at the connection point between rod and reel.
Three models cover MH, H, and XH power ratings, all at 10'0" in two pieces. Lure weights span 2-10 oz across the series. The MH entry handles lighter poppers and stickbaits while the XH top model addresses the heavier end of spinning-weight pelagic lures.
