Poison Glorious
2026 US-market bass casting and spinning rods with Spiral X Core blanks, FusionGrip cork-over-carbon handles and X Guide strippers
Poison Glorious is Shimano North America's 2026 bass series of 15 rods: seven casting models (PG1 codes) and eight spinning models (PG2 codes), introduced with the 2026 ICAST lineup. It is a separate lineup from the Japanese-market Poison Glorious (catalogued here as Poison Glorious JP), with its own model codes and spec tables. Shimano describes it as a middle ground between cork-handled bass rods such as its Expride B and JDM-style builds. Casting models run 6'10" to 7'9" from Medium Light to Extra Heavy, and spinning models run 6'8" to 7'4" from Light+ to Medium Heavy. All are one-piece except the PG179XHSB, a two-piece 7'9" Extra Heavy swimbait model with a full cork handle.
The blank combines Ultimate Blanks Design (model-specific placement of carbon materials), Spiral X Core (Spiral X carbon tape with Toray Nanoalloy resin) and an outer Hi-Power X carbon tape wrap. The rear grip uses FusionGrip, which Shimano introduces to the US market with this series: a thin cork layer over a carbon monocoque grip. The reel seat is CI4+, and the guide train is a Shimano X Guide stripper followed by Fuji Ti SiC guides. Shimano's copy describes two spinning models as strolling rods with a Taftec Infinity solid tip for forward-facing sonar work, and lists spinning jerkbait models among the eight.
Shimano's spec tables give mono line ratings (3-6 lb to 14-30 lb), lure ratings and grip length, but no action. The store lists a technique per model: Finesse for all eight spinning models; Jig and Worm for the PG170MH and PG172H, Swimbait for the PG179XHSB, and General for the other four casting models. List prices are $539.99 to $569.99 for casting and $559.99 to $599.99 for spinning.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 15 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
